About Blooming Tea:
Blooming Tea is a fairly recent addition to the world of tea. It was first developed about 40 years ago by a lady looking to create something different for her tea-shop. First, she just added small, whole flowers to the loose tea. Customers commented on the how nice they looked floating in the water, and a few inquired if there was a way to keep the flowers centered in the cup or pot.
Blooming tea is also called blossoming tea, display tea, flowering tea, art tea, Artistic Tea, hand-crafted tea, and hand-tied teas. Most Blooming Teas are made with green, black or white tea with various flowers to add color and extra flavor to the arrangement.
The tea buds are picked young in early spring before they open. The leaves are then sorted, only the finest whole leaves making the grade. They are now ready for tying. The flowers are also picked young and fresh so the flavors are delicate and the shapes small and perfectly formed. The leaves and flowers are then tied together by tea artists that pride themselves on their exceptional skill. The tea buds are then very slowly dried and packed until they awaken once more in your pot.
